Report: Fultz trade topic of 76ers-Cavs talks
76ers guard Markelle Fultz is the subject of trade talks between Philadelphia and the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to reports.
Fultz is currently idle while awaiting a visit with a shoulder specialist but has lost ground in the rotation to T.J. McConnell, who is serving as the primary backup point guard to Ben Simmons.
Fultz, through agent Raymond Brothers, informed the team last week he wouldn't participate in games or practices until cleared by a shoulder specialist. When informed by Brothers, general manager Elton Brand told reporters he was "very surprised" Fultz couldn't get an appointment until this week.
As for those visits, ESPN reported Monday that Fultz would see a specialist in New York on Monday and again mid-week. No immediate resolution is expected.
To that end, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Sunday that Fultz is no longer in the team's plans.
The No. 1 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Fultz missed 69 games as a rookie last season while recovering from an offseason shoulder injury.
Fultz's shooting form and confidence have been issues during his brief NBA tenure. He is averaging 8.2 points and 3.1 assists while shooting 41.9 percent from the floor in 19 games this season, including 15 starts.
The Cavaliers drafted Collin Sexton in the first round of the 2018 draft and wouldn't have an obvious place in their existing rotation for Fultz.
