According to data from the Czech Statistical Office, Czechs consumed two kilograms of coffee per capita, an average of 6.8 percent on a year earlier.

"Coffee consumption is growing in the long run, albeit very slowly. The Czechs are not a coffee nation and we do not drink 1.5 cups per day," says Doležel.

According to Dolezel, the already soluble coffee exceeded the sum of pots with ground or coffee beans. Cereal drinks, such as caro, have not played an important role in the Czech market in recent decades, they do not compete on the coffee market and are not considered to be "coffee substitutes" by the consumer.

"They are looking for pregnant or nursing mothers, for example, and the price is not the primary reason why someone would switch from coffee to a substitute," he added. The Czechs, according to him, are beginning to buy more expensive coffee. "The growth of this segment is mainly high-quality coffee in capsules, ground coffee for automatic coffee makers and premium soluble coffee," he added.

The segment of hotels and restaurants is also growing. "There are no significant innovations in coffee, but the requirements for coffee quality are rising, households are packed with capsules or vending machines, or they buy premium, soluble coffee to allow them to taste like a cafe, perceiving coffee in the cup as a marginal matter, we believe that consumers will win the comfort, speed and the same taste they love, "he said.

The trend with domestic coffee makers is confirmed by Segafredo, which has been operating in the Czech Republic since the 1990s. "The Czech coffee market has changed greatly since the 1990's, as compared to the past, the demand for coffee beans is constantly increasing in households, as it is common for households to have an automatic coffee maker or a smaller lever coffee machine with coffee grinders," she added.
