Bears QB Trubisky likely a game-time decision vs. Giants

Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky remains idle and out of practice Wednesday due to a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder.

Trubisky sat out Chicago's win over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day and is expected to be a game-time decision this week against the New York Giants (3-8), head coach Matt Nagy said Wednesday.

"The time (off) was good for him, but I don't know his exact level of pain tolerance right now," Nagy said. "I do think the arrow is up with him, but we'll just have to keep communicating on a daily basis with him about where he's at."

The 24-year-old Trubisky was hurt Nov. 18 against the Vikings but did not leave the game.

Trubisky has 2,469 passing yards and 20 touchdown passes this season. The Bears are 8-3 and in first place in the NFC North.

Chase Daniel is in line to start Week 13, which would mark the first time in his NFL career Daniel started consecutive games. Last week's start was the third of his career.

Nagy said there is no long-term concern for Trubisky. He also said the presence of Daniel is not a factor in whether he puts Trubisky on the field this week. Nagy said if Trubisky is honest with the Bears and feels no pain or discomfort, he could return Sunday.

"That decision isn't made because of (Daniel). We're going to do what's best for Mitch, and what's best for us, and once we know where that's at, we'll be ready to get them both prepared mentally and physically as well," Nagy said.
