The Los Angeles Rams officially activated cornerback Aqib Talib from injured reserve on Friday, clearing the way for him to play Sunday at the Detroit Lions.
Talib was designated to return from IR on Monday -- after missing eight games with an ankle injury that required surgery -- and he practiced without issue during the week. Head coach Sean McVay told reporters Thursday that the plan was for Talib to play on Sunday, though he might not get a full share of reps.
"If things go the way that we anticipate, we hope and what we expect, then I think you can expect to see him playing," McVay said. "How much will be determined as the week progresses."
Talib, 32, helped Los Angeles' defense allow just 36 points in three games before getting hurt midway through the third game. The unit has allowed 30.8 points per game without him, including 127 total in the last three weeks.
The Rams waived wide receiver Nick Williams in a corresponding move.
