New York Mets right-hander AJ Ramos will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder Wednesday, the team announced.

Ramos has been on the disabled list since May 28 with a right shoulder strain and had been considering surgery. The 31-year-old is a free agent at the end of the season.

The Mets acquired Ramos from the Miami Marlins last season. In his time with New York, Ramos has posted a 5.59 ERA in 38 2/3 innings across 49 appearances. He had a 2.78 ERA in 325 appearances across six seasons in Miami.

Ramos had a career-high 6.41 ERA in 28 games this season, making $9,225,000.
