San Francisco 49ers long snapper Kyle Nelson has reportedly received a 10-game suspension.

There was no immediate word on the reason for the punishment, first reported by ESPN's Field Yates on Tuesday.

Nelson's suspension would cover the final four games of this season and the first six games of the 2019 regular season.

Nelson, 32, has started 76 consecutive games since joining the 49ers in 2014. Before that he spent one season each with the San Diego Chargers (2012) and Washington Redskins (2013).

San Francisco worked out several long snappers last week, according to NBC Sports.

Nelson is in the final year of a four-year extension signed in 2015 and will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
