A left-hand injury will keep defenseman Danny DeKeyser out of the lineup for the Detroit Red Wings for four to six weeks, coach Jeff Blashill said Wednesday.
He suffered the injury Tuesday in the second period of Detroit's 6-5 shootout loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was hit on the hand by a slap shot from Lightning forward Steven Stamkos.
A hand injury also forced DeKeyser to miss eight games earlier this season.
He has played in 20 games on the year and has seven points (one goal, six assists).
A Detroit native, DeKeyser joined the Red Wings in March 29, 2013, as an undrafted free agent. In 401 regular season career games, he has 106 points (25 goals, 81 assists)
The team announced Tuesday that forward Anthony Mantha also will be out four to six weeks with a hand injury. He was injured Sunday in a loss to Colorado when he fought with Patrik Nemeth of the Avalanche.
Detroit (12-12-4) will meet the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Thursday.
