Seattle Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto was released from a Las Vegas hospital on Thursday after finalizing a three-team trade from his hospital bed, MLB.com reported.

The team said he was hospitalized as a precaution Wednesday after coming down with an illness Tuesday.

Dipoto, 50, was in town for Major League Baseball's Winter Meetings. He underwent tests at hospital "out of an abundance of caution," the team noted.

He signed off on Thursday's mega three-team trade involving Edwin Encarnacion and Carlos Santana from his hospital bed with assistant GM Justin Hollander by his side, according to reports.

The Tampa Bay Rays also were involved in the trade in which Encarnacion joined the Mariners and Santana was dealt to the Cleveland Indians.
