Broncos place veteran CB Harris (leg) on IR

Updated: 19-12-2018 22:21 IST

Denver cornerback Chris Harris will not return from a broken leg this season, with the Broncos placing the veteran on injured reserve Wednesday.

Harris suffered a fractured fibula during a 24-10 victory at Cincinnati on Dec. 2, but two straight losses without his services have knocked the Broncos (6-8) out of playoff contention.

Harris, 29, finished his ninth season in Denver three interceptions, one sack and 49 tackles in 12 games.

The three-time Pro Bowl selection returned an interception 53 yards for a touchdown in a Week 7 win against Arizona, his fourth career pick-six.

The Denver Post reported that the Broncos have signed cornerback Craig Mager, the Chargers' third-round pick in 2015 who was released by Los Angeles in late September.

Mager appeared in 24 games (10 starts) with the Chargers from 2015-18, registering one interception and 39 tackles.
