Cowboys WR Hurns has surgery after ankle dislocation
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Allen Hurns underwent surgery Saturday night after suffering a severe left leg injury in their win against the Seattle Seahawks, but he should be ready for next season.
"As difficult as the injury was to see, Hurns is expected to be ready to return to football by August if there no complications or anything out of the ordinary," ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted Sunday morning.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters that Hurns suffered "a dislocated ankle, as well as fractures in his leg."
Hurns' foot was caught underneath him as he was tackled by Seahawks safety Bradley McDougald at the end of a 14-yard catch in the first quarter. The foot was wrenched unnaturally to the outside in an apparent dislocation or break.
Hurns was down on the field for several minutes, with seven or eight trainers tending to him. Tears came down his face as he was loaded onto the cart, and players from both teams offered their support as he was taken off the field.
"Obviously not a good situation for Allen. It's a serious injury that he has," coach Jason Garrett said after the game, a 24-22 win that advanced the Cowboys to the divisional round of the NFC playoffs. "Allen's in good hands. He's going to come back. He's going to play a lot of football for us in the future."
The 27-year-old finished the regular season with 20 catches for 295 yards and two touchdowns after joining Dallas on a two-year, $12 million deal.
