Zambia: Restoration work on Chipata-Mchinji railway tracks completed
Zambia Railways has officially declared that works on the Chipata-Mchinji have been completed. Around two to three weeks back, the infrastructure was damaged due to heavy rains.
Sombe Ng'onga, Company Acting Public Relations Manager opined that the restoration works on CEAR Railways in Malawi are still in progress. However, the train movements between Chipata and the Port of Nacala will only be operationalised by mid-January of this year.
She explained that Zambia Railways Limited operates the Chipata-Mchinji Railway line on a 24 Kilometre stretch from Chipata and connects to Cear railways in Malawi and CDN railways of Mozambique to port Nacala, ZNBC reported.
