The Texas Rangers have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent right-hander Shelby Miller, The Athletic reported Wednesday.

Miller, 28, missed most of the last two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2017.

He has already passed a physical with the Rangers, per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.

Miller, a native of Houston, returns to his home state after stints with the St. Louis Cardinals (2012-14), Atlanta Braves (2015) and Diamondbacks (2016-18). He was an All-Star with Atlanta, posting a 3.02 ERA and setting career highs that season with 33 starts, 205 1/3 innings pitched and 171 strikeouts.

Miller pitched only 38 combined innings in 2017-18, compiling a 2-4 record with a 6.87 ERA.

He joins Texas with a career record of 37-53 and a 3.83 ERA in 131 games (124 starts).
