A new master's program by Lira University in Uganda

The demand for the higher education is increasing day by day across the country. A master’s program has been launched by Lira University, a public institution, in business administration.

The demand for the higher education is increasing day by day across the country. A master’s program has been launched by Lira University, a public institution, in business administration.

The course is accredited by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education and it was recently launched by, the principal of Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Prof. Waswa Balunywa.

The college scheduled a competitive examination for the entrance of the students in the masters. After a rigorous competitive test, the university administration has admitted eighty-seven pioneer students.

The university’s vice-chancellor, Prof. Jasper Ogwal Okeng has said that the course will run for two years and the college management and administration is looking to produce quality human resources.

He said that this is the beginning of good progress at Lira University and he also urged people to utilize the opportunity.

According to him, the business class in the country are very small as 80% of people in Uganda produce for self-consumption.

Lira University has received autonomy from the education ministry on July 2016. According to him, there is a need for the people of Africa to understand the intricacies of business. He said that because the country has not understood these business intricacies, the other western countries like Japan, Italy, and Germany are far ahead.
