Portugal began their quest to destroy Morocco in the group B clash. The match ended with a 0-1 scoreline. Cristiano Ronaldo 's sublime header off a Moutinho corner in first five minutes of the match gave Portugal an upper hand in the encounter. CR7 scored his fourth world cup goal of 2018 and became an all-time European goal scorer.

Hakim Ziyech and Al Ahmadi did try to create chances for the side but were off color. At the 40th min Munir saves a kick by Goncalo Guedes, Ronaldo did well to find Guedes but the keeper saved the day.

In the closing minutes of the first half, Younes Belhanda could not guide an excruciatingly close free kick by Ziyech for Morocco.

In the second half, Rui Patricio's heroics saved a fantastic header by Belhanda at 57th min. Morocco kept creating chances and Benetia made a mess of a great pass but Ziyech with around thirty minutes left in the match.

At 67th min mark, Ziyech for Morocco came close to scoring with a free kick, just over the bar.

Jao Mario got substituted by Fernandes in the next three minutes. Morocco substituted Belhanda with 15 minutes in the match. At 79th min Medhi Benetia missed a chance, as he failed to put an easy header in the net.

In closing minutes of the match, Benetia again makes a mockery of a good cross by Ziyech.

Portugal knocked out Morocco out of the world cup. Ronaldo and Co next play Iran. Iran will face Spain tonight, as Iran can make things interesting if they can pull of a draw against Spain.
