The Pittsburgh Pirates placed left fielder Corey Dickerson on the family medical emergency list prior to Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Major League Baseball rules require Dickerson to miss at least three days and a maximum of seven.

Pittsburgh recalled second baseman/outfielder Adam Frazier from Triple-A Indianapolis to fill the roster opening.

Dickerson, 29, is batting .302 with five homers and 32 RBIs and is in the mix to earn a spot on the National League All-Star team. He made the American League All-Star team last year as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Pirates acquired Dickerson from the Rays in the offseason.

The nature of the family emergency wasn't immediately known.

Frazier, 26, batted .237 with three homers and eight RBIs for the Pirates in 56 games before being optioned to Indianapolis earlier this month.
