Tech Mahindra has announced strategic investments in Germany with the inauguration of ‘Makers Lab’, a research and development center in Munich which will provide 100 percent on-site support to customers in their digital transformation journey.

The R&D development center is focused on technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality, 5G, Software-defined Networks (SDN) and Quantum Computing.

“The opening of our research & development arm - Makers Lab is a clear commitment to Munich & Bavaria as an economic region and also represents a significant step for Tech Mahindra in Germany as a whole,” says Vikram Nair, President EMEA at Tech Mahindra.

“Having made our investments here on a long-term basis, we are planning to create many qualified jobs in the geography. With the Maker’s Lab, we also provide a technology center that can be used by start-ups, customers, partner companies, scientists, and students as a testbed for their ideas and concepts. Featuring the country’s largest start-up community and many research institutions and universities, Munich is an ideal environment for this," he added.

Tech Mahindra also announced the launch of it is first-ever ‘Makers Lab’ research and development center in the United States.

With the newly announced Lab at Plano, Dallas, U.S, Tech Mahindra will collaborate with the University of Texas, Tech Mahindra professionals will team up with students to drive customer-centric innovation by leveraging next-generation technologies. It will also sponsor research projects, and encourage students to leverage cutting-edge technology solutions in their projects.

“Innovation is the key to ensure that we are future-ready. Through our research arm Makers Lab in the U.S., we intend to inspire our partner ecosystem, academia and employees to focus on innovation in next-gen technologies and customer experience. We believe it is our responsibility to invest in the local communities we operate in and initiatives like these help inspire and increase the employability of future technologists,” said Mr. CP Gurnani, CEO & MD, Tech Mahindra.

The new Makers Lab in Germany is seventh in the world joining others in Adastral Park research campus near Ipswich, United Kingdom, four centers in India at Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru and the one announced lately in Plano, Dallas, U.S.
