Five days after the Philadelphia Phillies designated southpaw reliever Hoby Milner for assignment, the team has traded him to the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Phillies announced the move on Saturday night and receive cash considerations in return.

Milner, 27, pitched to a 2.01 ERA in 37 relief outings with Philadelphia last season. The sidearm left-hander appeared in just 10 games with the Phillies this season, producing a 7.71 ERA, allowing four runs in just 4 2/3 innings.

He's been much more effective at Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season, posting a 2.39 ERA over 25 appearances and striking out 28 batters in 26 1/3 innings.

Milner was a seventh-round pick by the Phillies in 2012.
