UNESCO today is celebrating World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue & Development. The campaign #Unite4Heritage is a movement for the celebration and safeguarding of cultural heritage and diversity worldwide.

The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is held every year on May 21 and celebrates the richness of the world's cultures along with the essential role of intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development.

The day was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2002 after UNESCO's adoption of the 2001 Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity.

The aim is to understand and celebrate the potential that culture has and how it helps in achieving peace, prosperity and sustainable development.

To mark the day, Unite4Heritage urges everyone to get involve and spread all that is related to it. It is urging the masses to oraganize #Unite4Heritage event, explore heritage in their local community, volunteer to protect heritage, donate to the Heritage Emergency Fund etc.
