The Rajasthan authorities have ordered a "detailed probe" into the alleged suicide of a police officer who shot himself with his service pistol, a senior police official said today.

"No suicide note was recovered from the SHO's quarter and the reason behind the incident is not clear yet. A detailed probe is on," IG Jaipur range Hemant Priyadarshi said.
Singh's body was handed over to his family members after postmortem examination today, they said.
Bhanwar Singh, who has been given the charge of the Shahpura police station, said that Singh shot himself with his pistol. The incident came to light when a staffer found him lying in a pool of blood.
His funeral was conducted at his ancestral village in Ajmer district, the officer said.
Singh's is survived by his wife and a daughter. His elder brother is a retired police officer.
