Karnataka Infrastructure Development and Medium and Heavy Industries Minister M B Patil announced on Wednesday that the government will engage in wider consultations to secure the interests of Kannadigas and industries alike.
Responding to concerns from business leaders on proposed legislation, Patil used 'X' to reassure them regarding the Karnataka State Employment of Local Industries Factories Establishment Act Bill, 2024. The bill mandates reservation for Kannadigas in Group C and D category jobs, and encourages firms to prioritize local residents for other top positions.
Patil highlighted India's ongoing manufacturing and industrial revolution, influenced by the global China Plus One policy. He emphasized the importance of states like Karnataka remaining competitive. 'In consultation with key ministers, I will ensure that both Kannadigas' and industries' interests are protected,' Patil stated. The Minister assured that Karnataka will continue to be a progressive state, with no need for industry apprehensions.
Biocon Managing Director Kiran Mazumdar Shaw welcomed Patil's message, calling it 'reassuring' for the industry and investors.
