Dramatic Rescue: Indian Warship Saves 9 Crew Members from Capsized Oil Tanker off Oman Coast

An Indian Navy warship has successfully rescued eight Indians and a Sri Lankan national following a dramatic capsizing of a Comoros-flagged oil tanker off the coast of Oman, according to a statement from the Indian Navy on Wednesday night.

The MT Falcon Prestige, which was carrying 16 crew members including 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans, capsized approximately 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah in Oman on July 15. Search and rescue efforts, in coordination with the Omani authorities, continue to be in progress under difficult weather conditions.

Among the crew, one member was found dead, though the nationality is yet to be confirmed. The Indian Navy's long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft P-8I and warship INS Teg actively support the ongoing operations. The distressed vessel had sent out a distress call on July 14, prompting the immediate response from both Indian and Omani maritime security forces.
