Earlier today, the nominations for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards were unveiled, setting the stage for another thrilling ceremony. According to The Hollywood Reporter, FX's epic series 'Shogun' leads the prestigious list with 25 nominations, including the coveted Best Drama Series category.
This record-setting achievement highlights the show's immense impact within the industry. Close on its heels, FX's 'The Bear' garnered 23 nominations, breaking new ground for comedy series. Other top contenders include Hulu's 'Only Murders in the Building' with 21 nominations, HBO/Max's 'True Detective: Night Country' with 19, and Netflix's 'The Crown' with 18.
The diversity of the nominees is notable this year, reflecting a highly competitive landscape across multiple platforms. Netflix emerged as the frontrunner with a total of 107 nominations spanning 35 programs, followed by FX with 93 nominations from nine programs. HBO and Apple TV+ secured 91 and 72 nominations, respectively. The Walt Disney Co. achieved a personal-best tally of 183 Emmy nominations across its diverse portfolio.
Nominations were announced at the El Capitan Theatre by Tony Hale, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Television Academy chair Cris Abrego.
