German police have detained a man suspected of stalking Taylor Swift ahead of her highly anticipated shows in Gelsenkirchen. The arrest followed tips from event organizers, who reported the suspect had previously made threats against the internationally acclaimed singer, according to the German news agency dpa.
While authorities did not disclose further details about the suspect or the nature of the threats, they confirmed that Wednesday night's concert, which drew approximately 60,000 attendees, proceeded peacefully.
Swift, who is performing in Gelsenkirchen as part of her Eras Tour on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, received a warm welcome from the city. Officials temporarily renamed Gelsenkirchen as “Swiftkirchen” and honored the singer with a “Walk of Fame” celebrating local celebrities.
Following her Gelsenkirchen concerts, Swift is set to continue her tour in Hamburg and Munich.
