Ellipsis Entertainment to Back Film on Infamous 1971 State Bank of India Scam

Production house Ellipsis Entertainment announced on Thursday that it will back a movie based on the infamous 1971 scam at a State Bank of India branch in Delhi.

The untitled film will explore what is described as 'one of the most sensational scams in India's banking history,' investigated by a team of Delhi police officers led by then SHO of Chanakya Puri, Hari Dev Kaushal. According to the makers, an alleged double agent, Rustom Nagarwala, orchestrated the con.

The production banner, known for 'Do Aur Do Pyaar' and 'Sharmajee Ki Beti', is casting for the role of Hari Dev Kaushal, the father of actors Rahul Dev and Mukul Dev. Mukul Dev, known for films like 'Dastak' and 'Yamla Pagla Deewana', has co-written the script with Suprotim Sengupta and Kunal Aneja. He previously scripted the 2018 film 'Omerta,' directed by Hansal Mehta.

Producer Tanuj Garg expressed excitement about finalizing the cast and commencing shooting. 'As a huge fan of the espionage genre, I was intrigued by this mysterious case. Several individuals linked to the probe, including the prime suspect, died within months of the incident,' Garg stated.

Renowned photographer Atul Kasbekar reminisced about his long-standing connection with the Dev family, saying it's poetic that Hari Dev Ji is the hero of this intriguing story.
