Filmmaker Pete Segal reveals that his latest release, 'My Spy: The Eternal City', streaming on Prime Video, is inspired by a real-life choir trip he chaperoned. The film brings back characters JJ, played by Dave Bautista, and Sophie, portrayed by Chloe Coleman, as they head on an adventure in Italy.
This sequel sees an action-packed plot unraveling in iconic locations such as Rome, Venice, and Florence, culminating with a nefarious nuclear threat targeting the Vatican. Segal calls the film his 'love letter' to Italy, enriching the narrative with his personal experiences and beautiful Italian landscapes.
'My Spy: The Eternal City', funded with a significantly higher budget than its predecessor, also features Ken Jeong, Kristen Schaal, Anna Faris, Craig Robinson, and Flula Borg. Its future depends on the audience's reception, with Segal already contemplating a third installment.
