From Concept to Screen: The Journey of 'Roopantara'

Mithilesh Edavalath described the journey of creating 'Roopantara', one of the few dystopian Kannada films, revealing that its convincing desolate future was crafted largely by cinematographer Praveen Shriyan through VFX. Initially, Edavalath's script pictured a barren land, but Shriyan's creative approach transformed it into a captivating dystopian world.

Raj B Shetty's involvement added immense cultural depth to the film. Edavalath noted that Shetty's dialogues and lyrics, infused with regional flavor and philosophical undertones, elevated the film. He praised Shetty's ability to bring a unique cultural translation to the script, originally written in English.

Despite a limited budget, 'Roopantara' effectively switches between dystopian future and the present, enriching the storytelling. Edavalath, a filmmaker with no formal background in Kannada, expressed gratitude for the acceptance and love from Kannada audiences. He aims to continue creating films in Kannada, inspired by local characters and stories.
