India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has joined Northamptonshire for their last fixture in the One-Day Cup and the remaining five matches in the County Championship Division Two, the club announced on Wednesday. The 34-year-old Chahal has played 72 ODIs and 80 T20Is for India, claiming 217 wickets across both formats.
According to Northamptonshire's official announcement, the Indian spinner will link up with the squad on Wednesday ahead of their match against Kent in Canterbury. Chahal will be bringing his international acclaim to the club, which is currently struggling in both the One-Day Cup and County Championship.
Northamptonshire head coach John Sadler expressed his excitement, noting that Chahal’s wealth of experience and wicket-taking ability would strengthen their attack. The team is currently seventh in the eight-team County Championship Division Two and eighth in Group A of the One-Day Cup.
