Hundreds of MBBS students from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences, alongside students from Sikkim Manipal University and faculty members of Central Referral Hospital Manipal, staged a silent protest and candlelight vigil on Wednesday. This demonstration aimed to demand justice for an alleged rape-murder of a doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College Hospital.
Speaking with reporters, one student representative highlighted the shattered hopes and dreams caused by the horrific incident, asserting that 'infinite dreams, infinite hope, infinite hard work, and infinite dedication' had been destroyed. The rally participants strongly condemned the heinous crime that ended the promising life of a budding doctor and expressed their heartfelt condolences to the victim's bereaved family.
The protestors called for swift action against the culprits with the resonating message, 'Justice delayed is justice denied,' urging everyone to 'save the saviour.' The silent rally and candlelight vigil were held at the university campus, reflecting the community's solidarity and demand for immediate justice.
