U.S. company Westinghouse has raised objections against South Korea's Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) for using its reactor technology without authorization for a tender to build nuclear units in the Czech Republic.
On Wednesday, the Czech government selected KHNP over the French competitor EDF, following an extensive tender process. However, Westinghouse argues that KHNP has not adhered to U.S. export regulations that require government authorization before sharing such technology.
In a statement, Westinghouse indicated it could challenge the decision in national and international courts. As of now, KHNP has not offered any comments.
