Nine Crew Members Rescued from Capsized Oil Tanker off Oman

At least nine of the 16-member crew of the Comoros-flagged oil tanker, Prestige Falcon, have been retrieved following its capsizing off the coast of Oman, according to officials from India, who are aiding in search and rescue operations.

The 117-metre oil product tanker, en route to Yemen's Aden port, capsized near Duqm, Oman. The crew included 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans. So far, eight Indians and one Sri Lankan have been found, stated an Indian Navy spokesperson on Wednesday.

Rescue efforts are progressing amid adverse weather conditions, characterized by rough seas and strong winds, the spokesperson noted. Indian government officials affirmed that the search for the remaining crew members would continue in the area near Oman's significant oil and gas mining projects.
