Yogi Adityanath Reviews Preparations for Kanwar Yatra in Key Meetings

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath convened with Governor Anandiben Patel at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. Post the meeting, he chaired a cabinet session in Lucknow ahead of the upcoming assembly by-elections.

Earlier in the day, Adityanath reviewed the preparations for the holy Kanwar Yatra, slated to begin on July 22, issuing necessary directives. Attendees included ministers from the water, power, urban development, energy, and PWD departments. He directed the Public Works Department, Irrigation, and Urban Development officials to complete remaining road repairs along the Kanwar Yatra route within 72 hours.

Emphasizing the need for cleanliness, the Chief Minister ordered that the Kanwar Yatra route be kept litter-free and well-lit throughout the month of 'Sawan'. He called for the installation of additional street lights and transformer arrangements. Assistance camps should be set up to provide cold drinking water and lemonade, with the cooperation of vetted social organizations. Drone surveillance and floral showers on devotees during key moments were also suggested as part of the preparations.

Adityanath addressed concerns over proper DJ usage by Kanwariyas, emphasizing adherence to prescribed standards and height limits. Noting the influx of devotees to Shiva temples in cities like Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Varanasi, he urged local administrations to work closely with temple managements to manage crowds.

Additionally, the CM responded to reports of dead animals in the Ganga canal, instructing officials to prevent such occurrences immediately. (ANI)
