Delhi Experiences Record Rainfall, Residents Braced for Rising Yamuna Levels

Heavy rains lashed parts of Delhi on Thursday, offering much-needed relief from the oppressive humidity. Visuals from 7, Lok Kalyan Marg displayed a consistent drizzle, capturing the essence of a city momentarily at ease.

This June, Delhi recorded its highest rainfall in 88 years. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the national capital received 228 mm of rainfall between 8:30 am on June 27 and 8:30 am on June 28. This figure marks the most substantial 24-hour June rainfall since 1936, when 235.5 mm was recorded.

The heavy downpour has led to an anticipated rise in water levels of the Yamuna River. Consequently, authorities have issued alerts to residents of Noida's riverside villages, which faced severe flooding during last year's monsoon season. The situation has drawn considerable concern for both Delhi and Noida residents.
