The Karnataka government has taken decisive action in response to the rising dengue cases, directing hospitals in Bengaluru to designate specific beds for dengue patients. "To combat the surge in dengue cases, we have instructed designated hospitals in Bengaluru to reserve specific beds for the management of dengue patients," Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao shared on X.
Health Minister Rao also announced the reservation of 10 beds in all district hospitals and 5 beds in taluk hospitals across the state. "In addition, we have ordered the reservation of 10 beds in all district hospitals and 5 beds in all taluk hospitals across the state. This increased allocation will ensure timely and effective treatment for those in need," he added.
According to the directive, KC General Hospital, CV Raman Hospital, and GH Jayanagara are to reserve 25 beds each, while taluk hospitals in Yelahanka and KR Puram must reserve 10 beds each. This order supplements previous instructions to reserve 10 beds in district headquarters hospitals and 5 beds in taluka headquarters hospitals, which will remain in effect until further notice.
Health Minister Rao emphasized the government's commitment to containing the outbreak and ensuring public safety. He urged citizens not to panic about the rising dengue cases, attributing the increase to heightened testing. "We're fully prepared to handle the surge and have taken comprehensive measures to prevent the spread of dengue. Our teams are on high alert, ensuring prompt medical care for those affected," Rao said. He also promoted the 'Weekly One Day - Every Friday' initiative to keep surroundings clean and eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
With the monsoon season exacerbating vector-borne diseases, Karnataka has seen a significant number of dengue cases. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed officials to intensify efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and ensure 10 beds in a dedicated ward for dengue cases in every hospital. (ANI)
