ICCOA Advocates Stronger Policies for Organic Farming in Pre-Budget Meeting

The International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) was a prominent participant in the pre-budget consultation with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi. The meeting aimed to address challenges in the organic farming sector and propose solutions for its growth.

ICCOA's Executive Director, Manoj Menon, praised the consultation as a “very innovative and sensible exercise.” He emphasized the importance of recognizing sector experts to contribute to the national budget, especially in the organic and natural farming sector.

ICCOA's proposals included financial incentives for organic farmers, the establishment of a National Organic Board, a dedicated research institute, and a national promotional campaign. These measures aim to improve governance, enhance research, and promote awareness of organic farming's benefits.
