The Border Security Force (BSF) neutralized one Pakistani intruder and apprehended 24 others in the Punjab sector as of July 31, 2024, according to an official statement on Tuesday. BSF's vigilant surveillance thwarted multiple intrusion attempts between January 1 and July 31.
Of the 24 apprehended, 12 were handed over to Punjab Police for further investigation, while the remaining 12 were returned to Pakistan Rangers after inadvertently crossing the border, a senior BSF officer revealed. The force continues to guard the nation's sovereignty diligently by securing borders around the clock.
On August 2, a 45-year-old unarmed intruder was neutralized near the Khora post in the Manguchek area of Jammu. The BSF highlighted the rising use of drones for illegal activities, particularly along the Punjab border. Through advanced technology, the Punjab Frontier has managed to seize 134 drones as of July 31, disrupting smuggling operations significantly.
The BSF also seized 164 kilograms of heroin, valued at approximately 2.14 Crore INR, and apprehended 46 smugglers. Most recoveries were attributed to the alertness of BSF personnel, aided by information from local villagers in border areas. The BSF remains unwavering in its mission to safeguard the nation's borders.
