18 Children Rescued from Child Labor in Delhi's Jute Bag Factory

In a significant rescue operation, Delhi Police, in collaboration with the NGO Sahyog-Care For You, saved 18 children aged between 11 and 17 years from a jute bag manufacturing factory in Gamri village, Bhajanpura. Police officials reported the action on Tuesday.

The operation took place on August 5, involving the Seelampur Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM), the Department Of Labour, and the Revenue Department. The employers, identified as Aslat, Rajkumar, Vicky, Pintu, Sarvesh, Aehsan, Satender, Ansari, and Sahil Dabas, are now facing legal action.

The rescued children predominantly hailed from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttarakhand. A case has been registered under the Care and Protection of Children Act and the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act at Bhajanpura police station. The children will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee in Dilshad Garden as investigations continue.
