Ukraine's air force successfully intercepted 17 out of 23 drones launched by Russia during an overnight assault, authorities reported on Wednesday. The barrage resulted in damage to infrastructure across several regions.
The offensive included two Kh-59/69 guided missiles. Ukraine's national grid operator, Ukrenergo, confirmed that an energy facility was hit, leading to temporary power cuts in Chernihiv region. Another energy facility in the south was also targeted, though details remain scarce.
Kyiv has accused Russia of trying to cripple its power-generating capacity, leading to rolling blackouts. Meanwhile, Zhytomyr and Mykolaiv regions reported infrastructure damage but no casualties. Kyiv's governor, Ruslan Kravchenko, noted that drone debris ignited a forest fire, which was quickly extinguished.
