Priyanka Gandhi Demands Action Amid Rising Terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has expressed her deep concern regarding the surging number of terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. This comes in the aftermath of a recent encounter in Doda that resulted in the death of an Indian Army officer.

In a post on the platform X, Gandhi conveyed her sorrow and stated, "The news of the martyrdom of an Indian Army officer in an encounter with terrorists in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir is extremely sad. May God give peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family of the martyr to bear this sorrow."

Gandhi highlighted the alarming frequency of such incidents, noting that in the last four months alone, there have been 83 terrorist-related occurrences, resulting in the deaths of 20 soldiers and 14 civilians. She called on the central government to adopt "strict and concrete steps" to address this rising threat, emphasizing national unity against such acts of violence.

An Indian Army captain from the 48 Rashtriya Rifles was killed during the ongoing Operation Assar in the Doda district. The officer died while leading a search party in the encounter, and the operation, which commenced on Tuesday, remains ongoing. Concurrently, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a critical meeting to discuss the increasing terrorist incidents in the Union Territory, with high-ranking officials including Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi in attendance.
