Mounir Nasraoui, the father of renowned Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, is in a 'serious but stable' condition after being stabbed on Wednesday night in a car park in Mataro, northeastern Spain, according to a report by TVE.

The regional police force, Mossos d'Esquadra, confirmed to Reuters that three people have been detained on suspicions of attempted murder. Yamal, a 17-year-old football prodigy, was instrumental in Spain's recent victory at the Euro 2024, which was held in Germany.

TVE detailed that Nasraoui suffered three stab wounds, two in the abdomen and one in the chest, and he was admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital in Badalona. Authorities have also arrested a fourth person whose involvement in the incident is still under investigation. The police are probing whether a previous altercation led to this violent attack, as videos circulating on social media depict an argument involving Nasraoui and police intervention in the Rocafonda neighborhood.
