Former Indian ambassador Dilip Sinha asserts that China has failed to assimilate Tibet or win the hearts of the Tibetan people. Sinha made these remarks during the launch of his book, 'Imperial Games in Tibet: The Struggle for Statehood and Sovereignty,' at the India International Centre in New Delhi.
The book, unveiled on Tuesday, delves into how Tibet became a focal point for global geopolitical ambitions and examines its struggle for statehood. Sinha emphasized China's strategy of control through force, which he argues is ineffective and unacceptable to Tibetans.
The book launch featured a panel discussion with former Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon and Tibetologist Claude Arpi. Topics included Tibet's history, its geopolitical complexities, and the cultural assimilation efforts by China. Menon praised the book as an 'honest account' of Tibetan history, while Arpi criticized China's intervention in Tibetan spiritual matters.
