The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) has initiated the second phase of its notable animal-assisted therapy programme. Launched as part of Dubai Social Agenda 33, the initiative underscores the Foundation's dedication to fostering happier, closer, and more tolerant families, crucial for sustainable societal growth.
During this phase, DFWAC hosted a workshop led by Zahra Poonawala, a licenced professional counsellor and Certified Equine and Animal Assisted Therapist. The session targeted 30 professionals in social home care and the police sector, all specializing in women’s and children’s protection.
Sheikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Director General, highlighted the programme's early success and stressed its alignment with Dubai's social strategy to promote public health and social cohesion. The second phase aims to extend the programme's reach, offering intensive training on animal-assisted psychotherapy to professionals dealing with trauma victims.
