Tibetans in Exile Hold Vigil to Condemn China's Closure of Key School

Tibetans in exile held a candlelight vigil in Dharamshala on Wednesday to condemn the Chinese government's forced closure of the Ragya Gangjong Sherig Norbuling School in Golog. The vigil, held on International Justice Day, brought attention to the ongoing human rights violations perpetrated by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Eight Tibetan non-governmental organizations based in Dharamshala expressed profound concern over the CCP's systematic abuses in Tibet. They highlighted that Beijing's policies have led to severe violations of Tibetan children's fundamental rights, including forced enrollment in colonial-style boarding schools that strip them of their cultural identity.

The NGOs revealed that more than one million Tibetan children have been forcibly separated from their families and are subjected to assimilation policies. The closure of the Ragya Gangjong Sherig Norbuling School, founded in 1994, is part of broader efforts to undermine Tibetan education and culture. The activists called on the international community to hold China accountable and protect Tibetan heritage.
