Forward Pontus Aberg is headed to his fourth team in less than 12 months after the Minnesota Wild acquired him Wednesday in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks. The Wild sent minor league forward Justin Kloos to the Ducks in the deal. Aberg, 25, was in his second NHL season with the Nashville Predators last February when he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for forward Mark Letestu.

After finishing the 2017-18 season in Edmonton, he failed to make the Oilers' roster in training camp last fall. He wound up being claimed off waivers by the Ducks on Oct. 1. Aberg appeared in 37 games for Anaheim this season, compiling 11 goals and eight assists with a minus-10 rating. In 105 NHL games overall, he has 16 goals, 21 assists and a minus-3 rating.

The Predators made Aberg their second-round draft pick out of Sweden in 2012. Kloos, 25, has spent this season with Minnesota's AHL affiliate, the (Des Moines) Iowa Wild. The undrafted Minnesota native has 12 goals, 18 assists and a plus-4 rating in 34 games. He has appeared in one career NHL game, logging 8:39 of ice time for the Wild against the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 24, 2017, and taking a minor penalty. Aberg will get an immediate chance to face his former team when the Ducks face the Wild on Thursday in Saint Paul, Minn.
