Woman killed in suspected Tiger attack in TN

A 50-year old woman was killed after a tiger allegedly attacked her in Theppakkadu, about 35 kms from here, early on Wednesday.

Mari of Padi village had gone to collect firewood in nearby area on Tuesday evening, police said.

As the woman did not return home, her relatives immediately alerted the forest department officials.

The forest department staff on morning rounds noticed the woman's body about 200 metres from the elephant camp. The injury marks on the body, led to suspicion that tiger might have attacked her, they said.

The kin of the deceased was provided Rs 5 lakh compensation, they added.
