Afghan national working in Kerala held for overstaying

An Afghanistan national, who has been staying in India without valid documents, was arrested from Changanassery area of Kottayam district in Kerala, police said here.
Ahmed Nazir Osmani (24), who arrived in India on a medical visa, had been staying in the country even after his visa expired, it said. Changanassery police on Tuesday arrested Osmani from Layikkad village where he had been working in a hotel.
Police said Osmani had earlier worked in hotels in Bengaluru and New Delhi also.
In a statement, the Kottayam district police chief said a case has been registered against him for illegal stay and visa violation and also against the hotel owner for accommodating him without sufficient documents.
He was produced in a court, which sent him to judicial remand.
