Man Booked for Brutal Dog Attack in Maharashtra

Police in Nandurbar, Maharashtra, have filed a case against 50-year-old Madhav Gurav for allegedly beating and dragging a dog with a rope, resulting in the animal's death, an official reported on Wednesday.

The violent incident occurred on July 10 when Gurav brutally assaulted a stray dog with a stick, causing severe injuries that nearly dislodged her eyes, according to authorities. He reportedly tied the dog by the neck and dragged her along the road.

PETA member Priti Jaiswal and a friend transported the critically injured dog to a state-run hospital, where it died within two hours. Following the incident, PETA's Sinchana Subramanyam lodged a police complaint, leading to charges under section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. A notice has been sent to Gurav, and an investigation is ongoing.
