Communal tension flared in Baran, Rajasthan, on Wednesday morning when the dome of a Ganesh temple was found displaced. BJP workers and activists from various Hindu outfits staged a dharna, declaring they would not permit any Tazia processions in the city and demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the incident.
BJP MLA from Baran-Atru, Radheyshyam Bairwa, joined the demonstrators who protested by chanting the Hanuman Chalisa.
In response, officials including Baran Collector Rohitashv Singh Tomar and SP Rajkumar Choudhary facilitated negotiations between Hindu and Muslim representatives. While 10 of the 11 authorized Tazia processions were allowed to pass through the same route, one was rerouted through Sarafa Bazar from Chomukha Bazar.
A significant police presence was deployed following the incident, and teams formed to trace the miscreants while reviewing CCTV footage. Baran Collector Tomar assured that the situation had been resolved through discussions and that the Tazia procession was proceeding peacefully.
