Several private schools in the city received a bomb threat via email early Wednesday morning, prompting police to appeal to the public to remain calm. The emailed threat was received at around 1.55 am, leading to holidays being declared for two to three schools within the Foreshore Estate and Mylapore Police Station limits.
A police official confirmed that a case has been registered and that an investigation is underway to identify the sender of the email. ''Based on the email received, we are conducting an inquiry. Efforts are on to identify the sender responsible for issuing the email,'' the official told PTI.
In a similar incident this February, a number of private schools also received email threats, causing anxious parents to rush to the schools to pick up their children. The current threats have reignited concerns among families and school administrations.
