A tragedy struck during Muharram processions in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, resulting in four deaths and 26 injuries across multiple districts. Electrocution incidents took the lives of several, including a 12-year-old child in Gonda. Another electrocution in Pratapgarh killed a 25-year-old.
In other districts, structural collapses added to the toll. In Gonda's Itiathok area, four people were electrocuted while in Ballia, the collapse of a roof injured four children. Additional injuries were reported in Kannauj from another roof collapse.
Adding to the chaos, an interfaith clash in Bahraich over a tazia procession route led to four injuries. The conflict erupted in Sanchauli village when procession participants removed a farmer's fence, according to police reports.
