Prosecutors in Rome have formally requested a trial for former Juventus Chairman Andrea Agnelli and other former club executives. They face allegations of false accounting during their time at Italy's top soccer club, according to judicial sources.
The charges against Agnelli, ex-vice chairman Pavel Nedved, and others include stock market manipulation, obstruction of supervision, and false invoicing. Juventus confirmed the request for indictment through a statement from its legal team. Agnelli's lawyer has yet to comment.
A judge must now assess the prosecutors' request to determine if a trial should proceed or if the case should be dismissed. No hearing date has been set. Juventus maintains its innocence, stating that its accounting practices comply with industry norms.
Previously, in May 2023, the club was penalized 10 points for the Serie A season following a judgment by an Italian soccer court regarding transfer dealings. Earlier in March, a Turin judge began examining if Agnelli and others should be tried, but the Supreme Court of Italy transferred the case to Rome following a defense request.
